Creating Newsletters

Generating a Newsletter

Create newsletter drafts from your Slack conversations with a single command.

Starting a New Draft

To generate a newsletter, open a direct message with the Slackletter bot in Slack and type:

generate

The bot will:

  1. Fetch recent messages from your selected channels (last 7 days by default)
  2. Analyze the content for interesting updates, links, and announcements
  3. Generate a formatted newsletter draft following your instructions
  4. Send the draft back to you in the DM

Alternative Commands

You can also trigger generation with these variations:

  • new — Start a new draft
  • start — Begin newsletter generation
  • create newsletter — More explicit command
  • new draft — Create a fresh draft

What Gets Included

Slackletter automatically identifies and prioritizes:

  • Announcements — Important updates and news
  • Links — Articles, resources, and references shared by your team
  • Discussions — Interesting conversations worth highlighting
  • Wins & Milestones — Customer success, achievements, launches

The AI is smart about filtering out:

  • Casual chit-chat and off-topic messages
  • Internal process discussions
  • Sensitive or private information
  • Duplicate content

Understanding Your Draft

Once generated, your draft will include:

  • Subject line — A suggested email subject
  • Formatted content — Organized into sections based on your instructions
  • Links preserved — All shared URLs are maintained

From here, you can:
